One of my sister’s close friends from high school was diagnosed with a brain tumor a few years ago. He’s been in treatment and fighting it ever since and when she found out about the Head for the Cure event last year, she and a few others decided that this would be the event to show their support for Brian and his family.
I don’t know exactly how many people were on the team last year but this year we had close to 100! It was amazing! I ended up running the entire race with my new friend Liz (she’s a friend of the Ebbits family). When she went to pick up her packet from Lorie on Saturday and told her that she was a slow runner, Lorie immediately said, “oh, you can run with my sister; she’s slow, too!” Not all of us are naturally gifted at running like my sister! It was nice to have someone who ran about my pace to chat with during the race. I’m usually alone with my headphones!
